Co-ordit on a high at Snetterton

2009 bsb snetterton, News No Comments »

The co-ordit team left Snetterton on a high with Dave Hallett high siding out of the Russell chicane and Richard Cooper saving the best till last with a podium finish.

Richard knew his last race of the day was now down to him to get the team leaving snetterton on high so in true cooper form he stepped up tot he challenge. Richard had a front row start between the Padgett Honda’s of Brogan and McGuinness and was soon clear that it would be between the front row as they broke away from the field. The superstock race is turning out to be the best to watch as Seeley and Brogan battled for the lead whilst Richard stayed on the back with McGuinness keeping up in 4th. With the 2 ahead of Cooper diving under each other it allowed John to get on the back of Richard and make a move on the penultimate lap. Richard held his nerve and took 3rd position back on the last lap and secured his podium place to the line.

Dave Hallett has been having a few difficulties with his Seaton Bike but now that the engine has been rebuilt and a problem with the fuel pump sorted Dave as been able to take the race to the other Cup riders. He qualified 3rd place in the cup and was running a strong race pace until the rear let go as he pushed to get the drive out of the last chicane. The crash stopped the race and we feared the worst as he landed heavily but after being checked over he has nothing broken but was severly winded and his anckle tendons are bruised.

Glenn Irwin, 19 year old son of the legendary Irish racer Alan Irwin was given a chance to compete in the highly competitive British Superstock 600 class on board the Co-ordit Yamaha R6. It was amassive ask of the teenager who had never riden the R6 or had any experience of the track. With only limited practice time he worked well with Kev Tompkin (co-ordit crew chief) to get the right suspension setup. Glenn qualified 1.7 off pole and really charged hard in the race but made a few mistakes which cost him the position he deserved.

The team prepares for the long trip up North to Knockhill where the superstock riders will have 2 races to make up for not riding at the Mallory Park meeting.

Irwin aiming to “co-ordit”nate his future

News No Comments »

Teenage sensation Glenn Irwin, who scored another double at Bishopcourt last Saturday on board the Slemish Waters 600 Suzuki, will make his British Championship debut this weekend at Snetterton. There is no doubt that the performances of this lad so far this year have been nothing short of phenomenal and this has led to Team Co-ordit offering Glenn a chance to ride for them in the British 600 Superstock championship. Irwin, who has been a relevance this season in the Irish 600 championships is now only seven points behind championship leader Mark Lunney.

It will be a change of machinery for Glenn, as he will be riding the co-ordit Yamaha R6, which has been vacated by Leon Hunt due to contractual issues and has moved to stand in for Matt Woolridge on the Triumph. For Glenn this is the chance he has been looking for and he intends to prove his worth, albiet a steep learning curve on a track he hasn’t any previous experience on he will have the full support of the co-ordit team.

Pete Bradshaw; We have a few influential friends in the sport who noticed the results Glenn had in the thundersport round at Oulton Park where Glenn blitzed the opposition on his debut. This put him on our radar and with Glenn producing the goods at his home championship this weekend, coupled with the fact of Leon having to withdraw from his contract, it left the bike available for this weekend at Snetterton. I contacted Glenn  and we quickly got things sorted. I pride myself in developing Youth in the sport so here’s hoping that Co-ordit can work with Glenn and possibly build on this first step to helping him achieve his goal.

Glenn Irwin; I am looking forward to this weekend, it will be a steep learning curve for me, but i will be aiming to make the most of it. I can’t thank everyone enough that has helped me this year, Noel and Walter of Slemish Waters racing have been awesome to me and i hope to repay them with the Irish championships and Co-ordit with a result this weekend.

Co-ordit dominated at their local friendly track with Richard Cooper firing the Co-ordit Yamaha 09 to 3 wins with Pete Bradshaw the team owner on the no2 09 Yamaha joining in with second places and a win in the remaining open race. Summer had come to Mallory and with the track temperature rising all the riders were complaining about the lack of grip. The co-ordit team worked well trying different suspension and tyre pressures resulting in Richard consistantly lapping in the 53’s and Pete Bradshaw getting his PB running in the 54’s. The Yamaha 09 R1 filled all places on the podium with Richard Cooper 1st Pete Bradshaw 2nd and 3rd place going to Phil Brookes. Pete Bradshaw had a fantastic battle for second place against Mark Littler with the pair changing places for 3 laps before Pete took advantage on the brakes into edwinas and managed to hold a gap to the line. Mark Littler and Paul Curran had a tumble around gerrards but both riders were ok and we wish them both well. It has been a glorious day and big thanks goes out to all at EMRA, the Mallory Marshalls and all the riders.

NG Cadwell Park - another lap record!

News No Comments »

Team Co-ordit came away from Cadwell Park very wet but with yet another lap and outright club record. Saturday was dry and enabled the team to get valuable set up data for both Richard Cooper and Bruce Wilson. Richard beat the previous lap record with a blistering 1.31 and Bruce managed to reduce his previous best by over 2 seconds. Phil Bevan maintained his form by again finishing runner up and in inturn beating his previous pb. Phil took full advantage of another mistake by Richard falling on the approach to the mountain which left phil to claim his first win. Richard misses the next two meetings due to bsb duties so its given phil a great opportunity to topple richard from one of championship top spots.

Bruce is now officially part of the Co-ordit team and rides one of our stock R1’s from last year, he is already seeing the results of what the team can offer a rider as his lap times are tumbling. Not only is he going faster he is enjoying the sport nad having the fun which has put a smile on his face (must be wind). Big thanks to Andy Pulling for the use of his truck and Bruce for donating his engine for Phil to race on the Sunday.

Kevin Pepper found that Cadwell Park is not for the faint hearted and can be quite scary especially for the first time. His aim was to get to the low 1.40’s which for a first time novice looked a bit ambitious but in true co-ordit form and a lot of cheering from the pepper-army he managed a 1.43 and increased his second place margin in the novice championship.

Team boss Pete Bradshaw took one of Coopers 09 R1’s and had a play so that its not all work.

Congratulations to all the riders for a great weekend racing and a big thanks for the support of all at NGRRC together with the marshalls.

Next outing is Mallory Park Sunday 14th June when Pete Bradshaw, Richard Cooper and possibly Kevin Pepper will be riding with EMRA.

Thruxton round 4

BSB Thruxton 2009, News No Comments »

Co-ordit came away with mixed results after enduring some of the warmest weather we have had to race in for some time. Richard Cooper hadn’t raced at thruxton for over 4 years so it was to be a steep learning curve which resulted in him gaining the points to take him form 4th to 3rd in the championship. Leon Hunt had been setting his sights on a podium after finally getting the points on the score sheet at donington but had to retire in the race when another rider crashed into the co-ordit R6 bending the exhaust preventing Leon from leaning the bike into the right hand turns. Dave Hallett improved his times and managed a 6th place finish in the cup championship. Bruce Wilson continued to gel with the co-ordit r1 and his confidence grew as his lap times tumbled. His aim was a top 20 finish which as he climbed to 19th in the race was on the cards until he crashed on the penultimate lap. The team will use the break between the next bsb round to stay at race pace with NGRRC at cadwell park his weekend and Mallory Park the week after.

The Co-ordit team came away from Donington with a podium and bagged the points. The order of the day from team boss Pete Bradshaw was to finish with points and all riders did what was asked. Richard Cooper showed that he is back in title contention with a solid performance throughout the weekend culminating in a well deserved podium. This is his second podium putting him back in 4th position in the championship and the knowledge that he can beat the former champion.

Leon Hunt had a real battle in the 600 stock’s and was unlucky not to get a podium in what was an exhilarating race to watch. After getting up to third place he suffered from arm pump and had to settle for a superb 5th position.

Dave Hallett suffered a big crash in qualifying at the craner curves but with the efforts from the team was able to get out for the race and secure further cup championship points.

We have a new addition in the Co-ordit bsb squad in the form of Bruce Wilson ( journalist for Motorcycle Racer magazine). Bruce has switched from the Astro Kawasaki to a Co-ordit 08 Yamaha R1 and will compete in the 1000cc british superstock championship with Richard Cooper and later with Phil Bevan. Bruce aim’s to be a regular points finisher and with the resources of the Co-ordit team and the improvements he made throughout the weekend, its given him a real focus and belief.

Miss Blaby winner Robyn Mattock provided the grid with glamour as she undertook her first duty as grid girl for all 3 championship riders in front of a 30,000 strong crowd and also live tv coverage on eurosport.

Thanks to all our sponsors for their commitment to the team and look forward to the next round at Thruxton this coming weekend 30/31st May.

NG Snetterton and another lap record and personal best’s.

News 2 Comments »

There were 7 co-ordit riders entered in the NGRRC meeting at Snetterton to have fun and use the track time to get valuable set up data. Co-ordit chief mechanic Kev Tompkin together with technicians Tony and Carl kept the bikes in immaculate condition and had all riders out on track with the right tyres despite the changeable weather.

Phil Bevan showed that he means business by setting his personal best time of 1.09 which would of broken the current lap record of 1.10 had it not been for his team mate Richard Cooper running in the 1.08’s. Phil intends to join Richard in the bsb superstocks later in the season and in his current form will secure strong results for the team.

Cooperman used the meeting to shrug off the disappointment of Oulton Park and set about testing a variety of settings for the new 09 Yamaha R1 whilst winning all open and powerbike races. Other riders may have thought that they had a chance when Cooperman was relegated to the back of the grid after losing the front end on the first lap of qualifying at Russells. It had been the first time he had worn the new helmet which had been painted in the co-ordit colours but predicted to team boss Pete Bradshaw that he would be back in front by lap 2 and he was.

Team owner Pete Bradshaw used the meeting to have a play and race the new 09 R1 securing top 10 results and 1.12 lap times. Pete commented ‘It was great to get out on track and be racing with the other riders and especially good not to get lapped by either Bevan or Cooperman!’

Leon Hunt used the saturday to get some laps in and was the only man to test the inform NG Co-ordit Relay championship leader and fellow bsb rider Josh Day.

Dave Hallett improved every time he went out and it was the time on the bike that he really needed to get the feel and start to gel with the R6 having ridden the triumph all last season.

Ross Willshire had been entered in the 250 class and having proved he could run with the leaders after only 4 laps on the friday testday had to retire from the meeting due to personal circumstances. The team wish him well and look forward to him racing next time out.

The pepper army cheered Novice rider Kevin Pepper onto securing more championship points and despite joining the highside club managed to get his lap times down to the 1.15’s on his first time at the track.

Taking shelter within the co-ordit awning was Racer Magazine rider/journalist Bruce Wilson who was trying different settings in an attempt to tame his Kawasaki. By sunday Bruce was waving the white flag so Pete kindly offered Bruce a ride on his endurance R1 to get an alternative feel. It was so much easier for Bruce to ride the R1 compared with the kawasaki so i don’t think it will be long before you see Bruce on a R1 (may even be yellow) !

Final word goes out to two very likely lads who requested a meeting with the team owner and Richard Cooper. Bradley Hughes and Ryan Brains who were given a guided tour of the truck by Richard and entertained the whole team, even speaking with our international irish rider Mick Daly.

Many thanks to all the riders, marshals and NG organisers for a great weekend and wish the riders that took a tumble a speedy recovery.

Snetterton with NG

News No Comments »

Team Co-ordit will be out in force this weekend at Snetterton with the trio bsb riders of Richard Cooper, Leon Hunt and Dave Hallett all seeking to get some setup data ahead of the bsb round in 4 weeks time. Richard Cooper will have team mate Phil Bevan for company in the 1000cc classes which has so far this season produced some fantastic close racing (the boss might say too close at times)with Richard getting the wins and Phil the lap records! Phil is really on form this year and won in the Thundersport series at his home track at pembrey last weekend so will be trying hard to get the better of cooperman this time with the long back straight an advantage on the 08 R1.

Team owner Pete Bradshaw will don the leathers and race in the powerbikes on one of the stock Yamaha 09 R1’s. Joining the ‘boss’ and hoping to beat him will be co-ordit’s new rider Kevin Pepper who has produced some solid results in only his first season of racing. Cheering them on will be the Pepper-Army so hopefully he will score some championship points and stay aboard the co-ordit R1.

Pete Bradshaw after seeing Ross Willshire at Pembrey and hearing of his sponsor pull out has stepped in to help Ross enter the snetterton round. The team wish him well under the co-ordit banner and hopefully the results will enable him to continue the season.

Test day is friday and racing on saturday and sunday.

Good luck to all racers and big thanks to all the marshalls and race organisers.
